Red means stop. Most people in the modern world (and probably most third-world countries) understand this. However, in Florida, red apparently means stop (or attempt to stop) only if you see another vehicle passing through the intersection. This past Friday, I was hit by a man driving a green 1973 chevy pickup truck pulling a trailer. Luckily I had almost made it all the way through the intersection before he hit me, so it was the back end of my car that got smashed and not the part that I was in (me being in the driver’s seat and all). Thankfully, I was not injured, for I had enough strength to yell and berate the man who had run a red light and smashed my car to smithereens. Stupid Florida drivers.
