Scootin’

A couple of weekends ago we were hanging out with the Grainger family and Brad was showing off an old beat up scooter that he got from one of his friends. Apparently it was stolen several years back and then returned to the owner a couple of months ago in “stellar” condition. The owner was so happy to see it that he gave it to Brad.

It may not be a Vespa or even have a muffler, but it has one proud owner!

My curiosity got the best of me and I took this scooter for a drive around Brad’s yard.

We did another family photo session! My friend Sara Yates is an up and coming photographer, and she photographed our family. She did an amazing job. We couldn’t be happier with the pictures. If any of you in the Orlando area are looking for a photographer, check out Sara’s Website. She does weddings, family photos, group photos, senior pictures, and anything else that you need photographed.

Make sure you check out our Family Pictures 2007 album.

Christmas Letter 2007

Merry Christmas, everyone!

God has been good to us this year. True, God is good all the time (say it, Mark, “all the time, God is good”-sorry, little inside joke there), but it seemed like a nice opening statement to talk about a year that we have truly enjoyed.

Landon is now 1 ½, and he is a guy on the go. He is constantly moving. The only time he seems to stop is when he is eating, and we see him pause when he is doing a number two. He is into planes, trains, and automobiles as any little boy would be. He loves pointing out the airplanes in the sky as we go on walks. Living near the airport as we do, he gets to do a lot of pointing. He loves to say “shoo shoo” which is Landonese for choo choo train. As you can imagine, he is also great at saying “shoe” (half of shoo shoo and spelled differently, so you know he is referring to walking apparel). His other favorite words include (with translation) “Aaee” (Abby), “Sishy” (fishy), and “iunthat” (I want that). He loves playing hide n’ go seek with Daddy, reading books with Mommy, and playing fetch with Abby. He also likes riding in his wagon built for two with his pal Elizabeth (Keith and Betsy Shackelford’s little girl). All in all, we think if Landon could say it, he would say he has a “seetife” (sweet life).

After 5 years with Quantum3D, Ryan has accepted a position with AVT Simulation, a company here in Orlando that provides professional engineering services and training solutions to the simulation, training and entertainment markets. Ryan was hired as a Visual Systems Engineer contracted to the U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office for Simulation Training and Instrumentation (PEOSTRI). Ryan’s role is to provide industry expertise on visual simulation training systems and help advise the government on future simulation acquisitions on an aviation program called AVCATT. Ryan continues to enjoy playing guitar in the worship band at our church, H2O. In the effort to make room for a new family vehicle, Ryan parted with his 22 year old Mercedes diesel. He is currently undergoing therapy. Ryan has a blast with his little boy. He finally has someone else in the family to connect with (at his level) who understands the importance of jumping on the bed, wrestling in the living room and making farting sounds.

Jenni is still enjoying being a stay-at-home mom. She has been able this year to start doing some contract work with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida mainly from home. Our good friends, the Shackelfords, have been able to watch Landon when Jenni has a meeting. Jenni is still doing improv comedy with her troupe OFFSIDES (www.offsidesimprov.com), and she also performs twice a month at SAK Comedy Lab (www.sak.com) as a member of their Lab Rats group. Jenni still takes Landon to Gymboree classes once a week, and she still doesn’t know any of the moms’ names. Oh well, there is always next year…

Abby is enjoying Landon more than ever. We could say it is because she is growing more and more fond of him each passing moment, but we would be lying. Landon loves to give Abby his food, and that is the source of Abby’s love. Landon’s “one for me, two for you” method of feeding Abby was starting to get a little ridiculous, so poor Abby is now sent outside to watch Landon eat through the sliding glass door. But, they still get plenty of interaction. Landon loves to play with Abby. Their main game right now is tug of war with one of Abby’s toys.

Thanks for taking the time to check out our site. Please peruse around if you haven’t been in a while. We appreciate each and every one of you. We want to wish you all a Merry Christmas as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Cheers-
Ryan, Jenni, Landon, and Abby
